Bury, Oldham & District RSPCA

We take in dogs and cats in need, they are brought into our care from the RSPCA inspectors, Manchester animal hospital, and the public. We provide specific care plans to meet the individual needs of each animal until the day they can find a kind and loving new home.

The Bury Branch of the RSPCA was founded over 100 years ago and helped local animal owners with veterinary fees, mico chipping and neutering, but did not run an animal centre. The Oldham Branch concentrated its activities with a dedicated animal centre. The animal centre was opened on the 6th June 1987 and was able to accommodate dogs and cats. In 2005 it was agreed that the two branches would merge together and become The Bury, Oldham & District branch (Charity No 226624).

The Bury, Oldham & District operates in an area over 93.50 square miles with a population of over 409,957. As well as rescuing, rehabilitating and re-homing dogs and cats we provide a number of subsidised services to aid animal welfare; -Veterinary Clinic -Neutering Clinic -Micro chipping Clinic -We also deliver educational presentations.

To operate our animal centre and associated animal welfare services, we rely on our network of charity shops that are our main source of income, along with fundraising and donations. We are a separately registered branch of the RSPCA and are responsible for raising our funds locally. We receive no government or lottery assistance.
