Cars can be worth more as recyclable materials than they are as road-worthy vehicles, due to the extra costs associated with keeping it on the road, like taxes and insurance. Giveacar recognises these costs and realises the potential value encouraging the disposal of cars through salvage auction or scrapping.
For us to determine the price we will need the car registration and the collection postcode. We will also ask you for a bit more information about the vehicle so we can get the best price.

What Factors Influence The Scrap Car Value?
Customers often ask “how much will the charity get for scrapping my car?” Scrap car prices differ from vehicle to vehicle. The value of a particular scrap car varies, anywhere from £10 to nearly £300. The value of a scrap car depends on a variety of factors. These include:
The Size, Weight, And Age Of Your Car
Normally, the tonne-weight of your vehicle has a large influence on the price. Therefore, the bigger and heavier a car is the more usable metal available for scrap dealers and so you can get a better price. Older vehicles often contain a lot more steel whilst many new cars are replacing steel with alternative materials which lower the value received for scrap vehicles.
Missing Parts
To ensure we get maximum prices for your scrap car, it’s important not to remove any parts before you decide to donate it. Lots of them are more valuable than you think.
Your Location
The further a dealer has to travel to collect your scrap car often means they will charge a greater fee. We assign local collection agents to get the maximum price.
The Scrap Metal Market
The market is always fluctuating. The supply and demand for scrap metal change from day-to-day and this can impact the prices we get for your scrap car.
Does Mileage Affect the Scrap Value of My Car?
Generally, mileage won’t actually affect the value of your vehicle to a scrapyard. The Authorised Treatment Facility (ATF) will typically value a vehicle based on the factors above but mileage doesn’t usually come into the equation. However, the mileage of your vehicle often correlates with the condition. This can change how you approach scrapping your vehicle.
