What Is My Car’s Scrap Value?
When people scrap their car, often they want to know their car’s scrap value. We’ve laid out the way scrap car prices are calculated.
We consider the factors that affect the value of a scrap car. The process for finding a car breaker who will then scrap your car is often time-consuming and complicated; We do it all for you. Using 10 years of experience and a nationwide network of partners, we make the process of scrapping your car easy. We’ll organise to scrap your car and donate the proceeds to a charity of your choice.
Cars can be worth more as recyclable materials than they are as road-worthy vehicles, due to the extra costs associated with keeping a car on the road, like taxes and insurance. Giveacar recognises these costs and realises the potential value encouraging the disposal of cars through salvage auction or scrapping.
For us to determine the price of your car we will need the car registration and the collection postcode. We will also ask you for a bit more information about the vehicle so we can get the best price.
If you need to get rid of an old car and would like to do some good at the same time, or for more information, call us on 0207 736 4242. We will arrange free collection for your scrap car. Or, if you are ready to donate fill out our donation form.
What Factors Influence The Scrap Car Value?
Customers often ask “how much will the charity get for scrapping my car?” Scrap car prices differ from vehicle to vehicle. The value of a particular scrap car varies, anywhere from £10 to nearly £300. The value of a scrap car depends on a variety of factors. These include:
The Size, Weight, And Age Of Your Car
Normally, the tonne-weight of your vehicle has a large influence on your car’s scrap value. Therefore, the bigger and heavier a car is the more usable scrap metal available for scrap dealers and the better the value received. Older vehicles often contain a lot more steel whilst many new cars are replacing steel with alternative materials which lower the value received for scrap vehicles.
To ensure maximum value is received for your scrap car, it’s important not to remove any parts before you decide to scrap it. Lots of them are more valuable than you think.
The further a dealer has to travel to collect your scrap car often means they will charge a greater fee. We assign local collection agents to achieve the maximum scrap value for your car.
The Scrap Metal Market
The market is always fluctuating. The supply and demand for scrap metal change from day-to-day and this can impact the value received for your scrap car.
Does Mileage Affect the Scrap Value of My Car?
Generally, mileage won’t actually affect the value of your vehicle to a scrapyard. Case closed, right? Not quite. The Authorised Treatment Facility (ATF) will typically value a vehicle based on the factors above but mileage doesn’t usually come into the equation. However, the mileage of your vehicle often correlates with the condition. This can change how you approach scrapping your vehicle.
