How it works

Collection
Call us or fill in our online *form*. We will call you back and arrange a collection that is convenient to you. Normally within 2-7 days. Have a look at the checklist to make sure your vehicle is ready for collection.
Your V5C
Remove section 9 or 4 from your V5C, this is the section that says ‘ transferring a vehicle to a motor trader,’ and make a note of the 11 digit reference number on the front of your document. Give the rest of the document to the collection agent.
Notifying the DVLA
Once your vehicle has been collected, you must inform the DVLA that you are no longer the registered keeper. You can do this *online* or post your section 4 or 9 to the DVLA. You will need the collection agents’ details, which you will find in the service emails they have sent you. If you have any problems, please give us a call.
Your donation
It can take 8-10 weeks from collection, for the payment to your charity to be processed. We will send you a receipt confirming the donation amount. We encourage charities to write a letter of thanks for the donation, however we are not able control this. If you have not heard from them within 10 weeks let us know and we can send them a gentle reminder.
Our Fees
Giveacar is a not-for-profit social enterprise. To allow us to continue raising money for charities across the UK, we deduct a service charge from each donation. This is not a charge to the donor as the money is subtracted from the value of your donation. We reinvest every penny made into our staffing, advertising, and administration costs.
Your donation helps us raise even more money for charity
Vehicles that raise up to £249 have a 25% admin fee applied. Vehicles with a value of £250 and over will have a 30% admin fee applied. Please note our admin fee is subject to VAT.
Vehicles sent to auction: So that we can get the best value for your donation, we often send vehicles to auction. Please note, vehicles sent to auction incur fees from our auction partners. Our admin fee is taken off the proceeds of the sale, after auction fees have been applied.
The rest of the money goes directly to the charity of your choice! Giveacar is the only independent, not-for-profit car donation company in the UK. Our admin fee is our sole means of income. Every vehicle that is donated, be it a motorbike, van or car, contributes to Giveacar’s ability to keep raising money for UK charities.
