The Y works predominantly with 16 – 25 year olds, providing supported accommodation, education and wrap around support, in addition to practical support for rough sleepers and vulnerably housed adults. Our services span Leicester city and Leicestershire where we also house Leicester’s oldest working theatre.
The Y works predominantly with 16 – 25 year olds who have been identified as a child in need due to being a ‘Looked After Child,’ a young offender, family breakdown, issues of trauma (such as sexual abuse), special educational needs or health. The Y provides 118 bed spaces across Leicester and Leicestershire and also offers access to education, advice, information and support.
The charity also has other specialist areas of work including:
•Mentoring support services for young offenders •Specialist facilities used as a training environment for young people with physical and learning disabilities.
•A homeless day centre providing practical support, advice and personal development for rough sleepers and vulnerably housed adults •The Y Theatre presents theatre, comedy, music and spoken word as well as developing opportunities for local artists and creative learning projects for young people
•Sports and conference facilities
