Suicide Crisis is a registered charity which provides Suicide Crisis Centres. The charity provides a 24-hour face to face service to people at high risk of suicide.
We provide a “safety net” of a combination of Suicide Crisis Centre, home visits and emergency phone lines for clients under our care. When someone is at high risk of suicide, we may need to go out to them. They may be too distressed to travel to one of our Suicide Crisis Centres.
The work of our Suicide Crisis Centres has attracted national and international attention, because of our zero suicide achievement. We have been providing services since 2013, and there has never been a suicide of a client under our care.
We were invited to give oral evidence about our work to a UK Parliamentary Select Committee which looked into the measures needed to prevent suicide. Most recently, in 2019, we were contacted by the Ministry of Health in New Zealand. They were keen to learn more about our work as they develop their new national suicide prevention strategy. Our communications and contact with the Ministry of Health in New Zealand are continuing.
