St Peter & St James Hospice provides specialist palliative care and support to people of Mid Sussex with life-limiting illnesses and their families. We support people who are referred to our service for end-of-life care and help approximately 600 patients and their families each year.
St Peter & St James Hospice provides support & care to terminally ill patients and their families by the free provision of Specialist Palliative Care through an 8 bedded inpatient unit. In addition to end of life care and respite, we provide specialist support and advice to patients in their homes through a team of Community Nurses, a day-care unit at the Hospice, and a team giving psychosocial and spiritual care to patients and their loved ones .
Access to these services is open to all people from the Trust’s catchment area of Mid Sussex including Haywards Heath, Burgess Hill, Lewes & Uckfield who are assessed as having specialist care needs, together with their families and carers. Last year we cared for nearly 600 patients and their families in our catchment area.
We have to raise £2.2 million for the Hospice each year and we receive less than 16% of our funding from the government. Families are not charged for these services so it relies on the generosity and support of the local community.
