A youth work organisation whose mission is to work with young people, encouraging them to take responsibility for themselves and become actively involved in shaping the communities in which they live.
SRYP engages and supports young people living in rural areas in a range of social, economic, educational and recreational opportunities designed to encourage social inclusion and lifelong learning. We;
– address issues of exclusion, isolation and disadvantage that affect young people.
– increase the take up of education, training, employment and enterprise opportunities.
– encourage community regeneration through good citizenship and participation.
– provide access to information, advice and guidance on issues relevant to the lives and aspirations of young people.
Our work is based around two general themes. Firstly, access to generic youth work activities (ie youth clubs) focused on personal and social education in rural communities and promoting social cohesion and community development.
Secondly, a targeted (usually one to one) approach to young people’s economic development and aspiration through the delivery of services to combat issues of transport, isolation and lack of opportunities.
