SKIP is a non-profit organisation in Northern Peru, helping disadvantaged children realise their right to an education.
We foster the capacity of children and families to be the principal agents of change in their lives and work in partnership with them through holistic programmes focusing on the educational, economic, emotional and social development.
Created in 2003, SKIP is a non-profit organisation helping economically-disadvantaged children realise their right to an education. We are currently working in El Porvenir, an impoverished district of the city of Trujillo, on the north coast of Peru.
We promote quality education and foster the capacity of children and families to be the principal agents of change in their own lives. We work in partnership with families through holistic programmes focusing on the educational, economic, emotional and social development of each child and parent.
Our team is comprised of volunteers from the community of El Porvenir and Trujillo as well as volunteers from overseas.
We provide additional classes for students of Primary and Secondary age including access to library facilities and Art and Sport sessions and extra English from native speakers.
We run a Classroom Assistants programme, which trains parents to become classroom assistants. They gain useful skills in behaviour management, learn more about their children’s educational needs, and the children in the classroom receive more attention.
We run programmes in the areas of Social Work, Psychology, Economic Development, and Health to help the families we work with to fulfil their potential.
