Housing charity Shelter helps millions of people every year struggling with bad housing or homelessness through its expert advice, support and legal services.
It provides people in need with one-to-one, personalised help with all their housing issues. And as Shelter’s free emergency helpline is open 365 days a year, it’s often the first port of call for people facing a housing crisis.
Anyone can lose their job, become ill, or suffer a relationship breakdown. It’s all too easy to fall into a spiral of debt and arrears. Becoming homeless can happen to anybody, and too many of us are just one or two pay cheques away. Shelter are there for people when they fall through the cracks.
As well as providing direct support, Shelter undertakes ground-breaking research to understand the UK’s housing problem. It campaigns to tackle the causes and consequences of the housing crisis, and by working closely with the media, Shelter ensures that the voices of those affected by the housing crisis are always heard.
We rely on donations from fundraisers and supporters to enable us to carry out our vital work. For every £1 you donate, 79p goes towards helping people struggling with bad housing and homelessness.
Shelter has been around for over fifty years, and will continue to fight until one day, every person has a safe, secure place to call home.
Giveacar and its donors are proud supporters of Shelter as they work hard at helping those with bad housing or homelessness. If you’re planning to scrap or sell your car, do a good deed and give your car instead. Help Shelter continue to provide homes for those in need when you donate your car to charity.
