Building a better future with refugees in Scotland The Scottish Refugee Council is the principal agency supporting refugees and asylum seekers in Scotland. All asylum seekers dispersed to Scotland are referred to Scottish Refugee Council for support as they go through the UK Borders Agency process. We provide professional advice and support services from asylum applications through to integration following granting of refugee status. We work with refugee community organisations to support integration, and to strengthen the voice of refugees and asylum seekers in Scotland. Our arts, culture, sports and heritage programme coordinates a year-long build up to the annual Refugee Week Scotland, which celebrates the contribution refugees make to our common heritage, and promotes public understanding of refugee issues. Our policy and communications programme undertakes leading policy research and communication, with current areas of focus being women refugees, unaccompanied minors, and the implications of proposed Scottish independence for asylum and refugees.
