Leo Baeck College finds and trains rabbis and educators for the Progressive Jewish Community – for communities that follow the Liberal or Reform path.

Leo Baeck College was founded in 1956. The College is named after Rabbi Leo Baeck of the Hochshule in Berlin. It was set up by Rabbi Dr Werner van der Zyl, one of Rabbi Leo Baeck’s students.
Leo Baeck College has a hugely Germanic back story and we owe our scholarly direction to the Wissenschaft des Judentums.
Leo Baeck College is a pre-eminent institution of Jewish scholarship and learning that is open to all – and is accredited by Middlesex University.
Leo Baeck College currently has 18 rabbinic students ranged across four study years.
Leo Baeck College has ordained in excess of 200 rabbis since it was established and all its alumni were able to find work in their chosen field following their ordination.
