Leicestershire and Rutland are great places to live, but there are areas – urban and rural – where poverty affects life. Life can be hard in other ways:
a serious illness, a baby born with special needs, a child losing a parent.
There are places where wildlife is declining, or an area can’t thrive because of lack of facilities.
Charities and community groups are dedicated to helping people cope with or improve things. They do a huge variety of work – from supporting homelessness to running playschemes to placing owl nesting boxes. Some are very traditional, some are truly innovative, most are largely unpaid – and they keep our countryside, villages, towns and city not just surviving, but thriving.
The Community Foundation is here to link all people who want to help make Leicestershire and Rutland great – with their money, their experience or their time.
