Hospital Radio Ipswich has been providing entertainment to Ipswich Hospital patients and staff for over forty years. The station is a registered charity and receives no funding from the NHS.
Music is recognised as a highly therapeutic medium and therefore Hospital Radio plays a vital part in hospital patients recovery.
Based at Heath Road Hospital, Ipswich, HRI’s volunteer members broadcast a variety of programmes every day of the week.
Members regularly visit the wards to meet with patients and to collect requests. These are then played back on the radio system which is available to every bed in the hospital.
The station is proud of the fact that it is the most listened to radio station within the hospital.
