Home-Start Banbury and Chipping Norton is a local branch of a national family support charity dedicated to helping vulnerable families with young children who are struggling to cope. The families we support have a variety of different backgrounds and needs. Some of the most common cases we support involve post natal depression, multiple births, loneliness and rural isolation, and families where there is ill health, disability or special needs.
Through the use of highly trained family visiting volunteers, we can have a transformational effect on a family, giving children the life chances that flow from a happy childhood. Volunteers offer regular support, friendship and practical help to families under stress in their own homes helping to prevent family crisis and breakdown.
The needs of each family are carefully assessed and they are matched with a volunteer who will typically visit once a week for as long as the family needs support.
Our volunteers come from many different backgrounds and vary in age but all are either parents or have parenting experience and are carefully selected for their friendliness and understanding. All volunteers are appropriately approved and all attend a course of preparation before being linked with families.
We are reliant on fundraising for our work, and all donations enable us to continue to offer our services to families in need at no cost to them, but of enormous benefit to them and to the local community.
