Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance provides a prompt and efficient Air Ambulance service to the people of Hampshire and the Isle of Wight. The charity was launched in 2005 and the Air Ambulance took its first flight on 1st July 2007. The aircraft is an EC135, and it carries three crew members, and one patient. It will attend road traffic collisions, sporting accidents, heart attacks, collapses, and inter hospital transfers, amongst others. It costs us £110,000 each month to maintain the service, and the charity receives no government or national lottery funding, relying solely on donations from companies, groups and individuals to keep the Air Ambulance flying and saving lives.
