Cadwych fwyd gwyllt yn wyllt – Keeping wildlife wild
Gower Bird Hospital provides veterinary care, rehabilitation and the relief from suffering of displaced British wildlife. We encourage compassion and responsibility from the public and professionals in wild animal welfare. We contribute to wildlife conservation and public health through research and disease surveillance.
We do this by combining compassion and science, engaging with universities and internships to develop evidence based standards and protocols through scientific enquiry to advance wild animal welfare standards. We disseminate our findings to Government and NGO’s to improve welfare frameworks and help shape future legislation.
We are raising funds to provide a purpose built wildlife and education centre to enhance our work and, in addition, provide professional training and school and university education.
Gower Bird Hospital believes the prime aim of wildlife rehabilitation is always to return an animal to the wild without compromising its or other animals’ welfare. The animal must also be capable of integrating with its local community and entering into a breeding population. We do not keep or condone the keeping of wild disabled animals as pets or attractions.
