Our mission at Gloucestershire Wildlife Trust is a simple one – to value nature. Our ambition is to preserve, recreate and reconnect Gloucestershire’s wild places. We want everyone in Gloucestershire to value, enjoy and share wildlife in the county and believe strongly that nature matters, not only in its own right, but for the huge benefits it brings to the people of Gloucestershire.
Gloucestershire Wildlife Trust operates in a changing environment. The impacts of climate change, shrinking natural resources, a tough economic climate, and most of all the continuing depletion of our habitats and the wildlife they contain in the county are just some of the issues that affect the way we work.
We want our plans to respond to the challenges facing us and make the most of new opportunities as they arise. This means doing things differently when necessary, being more adaptable and focusing on the difference our work makes to wildlife and people. We are lucky to enjoy a landscape still rich in wildlife. Our plans recognise that it is also an environment that keeps us happy, healthy and well, and that attracts many visitors to our county. We will deliver our plans through four streams of work: managing and enhancing our nature reserves; creating living landscapes; inspiring people and communities and championing the value of nature.
