Glamis Hall Wellbeing Centre is a community-run facility which houses a VIP club for the elderly.
People come here who cannot easily leave their homes without assistance. They can socialise, take part in daily activities and enjoy a three-course lunch which is freshly cooked on the premises. Assisted bathing and hairdressing is available on a daily basis and a podiatrist visits regularly. A shopping and laundry service is available.
The Centre also has a badminton hall which is available for hire to groups, for parties, sports etc. Four large football changing rooms are accessed via the adjacent pitches and there is a meeting room also available for hire.
This facility is entirely community run and the building was transferred by the Borough Council of Wellingborough to the community group that had fought to keep it open after the council voted to close it in June 2014 and condemn the people who went there to a life imprisoned in their own homes.
We have some paid staff but the majority are volunteers, driving clients to and from the centre, serving lunch, running activities and making sure everyone is having a good time. Glamis Hall is the happiest place in Wellingborough bar none. Please come and visit for a taste of the Glamis Hall Effect.
