The Gainsborough Foundation is an innovative recovery service for people whose lives have been affected by alcohol misuse.
Nick Charles, Gainsborough Foundation’s Founder & Director, received an MBE in 1996 and became the first person ever to be honoured by the Queen ‘for services to people with alcohol problems.’
Since its launch in 2008, Gainsborough Foundation has won five national NHS awards and its treatment program has been heralded by GP’s as “the best alcohol recovery program in the Western Hemisphere” and “the alcohol field’s answer to the invention of penicillin.”
Gainsborough Foundation currently operates from a Centre of Excellence in Huntingdonshire, in partnership with over 60 GP’s. It is a rapid, highly effective support and recovery service with a proven 60%+ long-term dry recovery rate.
In 2015, Gainsborough’s goal is to make its service available, free of charge, to every GP practice in the UK.
