The Friends of Moorfields is an independent registered charity within Moorfields Eye Hospital, a world centre of excellence for the specialist treatment of eye diseases.
We provide general support for the work of the hospital, raising funds to help make patients’ visits more comfortable and to purchase much needed equipment for clinicians. Recent grants include purchase of a specialist scanner, a facial imaging device for patients requiring facial reconstruction and funding for a series of information films for patients.
Our supporters include patients, their relatives and friends, former patients and other well-wishers. They support us with donations or by becoming a member of the Friends. Membership costs just £10 a year and includes our quarterly newsletter, The Peacock. Many of our supporters also consider leaving a legacy to the Friends.
We depend on support from volunteer workers to assist with the daily services the Friends offer the hospital; this ranges from a couple of hours occasionally to two days a week. We are always delighted to hear from anyone who is interested in volunteering.
