If you have been touched by Eden Valley Hospice at any time we know you will understand that Hospice care is not just about a building – it is about people, caring, understanding, supporting and encouraging each other.
It is also about offering the reassurance of skilled medical and nursing care, whilst still recognising everyone as an individual and as a special person.
Eden Valley Hospice operates as a 12 bedded adult hospice and 5 bedded Children’s Hospice plus both an adult and children’s day hospice facilities and adult out-patient clinics.
As Cumbria’s only Children’s Hospice offering this type of support for children and the only adult Hospice in North Cumbria it is a very busy place and since it opened in 1991 an estimated 5,000 people have benefited from the help and support we offer.
But this is not without a cost. Each year the running costs of the service increase, in 2011 it will cost £3Million to run Eden Valley Hospice and Eden House Children’s Hospice. Around £600,000 of this is provided by the local NHS and a further £100,000 from the Dept of Health leaving us the challenge to find £2.3Million from the communities we serve.
All support is welcome, be it a small home money box to that Bentley you no longer need!
