East Sussex Foster Care Association was established as an independent charity in 1993 by East Sussex foster carers.
We exist to support Foster carers, Looked After Children and Children Who Foster (foster carers’ own children). For foster carers, we provide training and support, as well as advocacy if disputes arise with Social Workers. We maintain contact with regular newsletters and our website and facebook page. We also hold an annual conference which engages foster carers with the most recent thinking on caring for vulnerable children.
Looked After Children benefit from our work through residential activity holidays, day trips and employability training. Over the years we have provided many children and young people with the opportunity to have memorable experiences and to better their futures.
Our work with Children Who Foster, foster carers’ own children, is vital.
These young people are an often-forgotten group who share their parents, homes and time with vulnerable children. We exist to say thank you to them for their contribution.
ESFCA is governed by a board of Trustees, and by its committee members. There are two paid members of staff, a Service Development Manager (16 hours per
week) and an Administration Assistant (9 hours per week). ESFCA has a full constitution.
