There are currently 25 million people in the UK who have a relative or close friend affected by dementia. Dementia UK is a national charity, committed to improving quality of life for all people living with the condition.
We do this through Admiral Nursing, a specialist nursing intervention service that provides a lifeline to thousands of people affected by dementia. Admiral Nurses are unique as they provide family carers with the tools and skills to best understand the condition as well as offering emotional and psychological support. They are an invaluable source of contact and support for families at points of difficulty in the dementia journey, including diagnosis, when the condition advances, or when tough decisions need to be made such as moving a loved one into residential care.
Dementia UK also supports the Admiral Nursing DIRECT helpline, staffed by experienced Admiral Nurses. DIRECT provides a direct access telephone and email information and support service for family carers, people concerned about their own memory and professional care staff.
Dementia UK’s aim is to make Admiral Nurses available to anyone in the country who needs their vital support.
With your support you can help us to achieve this.
