The Christie Charitable Fund provides enhanced services over and above what the NHS funds. Gifts from the public make a huge difference to the care and treatment that The Christie is able to provide to our patients and their families.
Whilst we have achieved a phenomenal amount thanks to the backing of our donors, this doesn’t mean we can be complacent with our achievement and we always have plans in the pipeline to further improve our services. We have big goals and ambitions for the future, and all of these require your support.
We are one of the largest hospital charities in the UK with 83p in every pound raised going directly to the patients.
We have over 50,000 supporters and each of them helped us to raise a total £15.4m last year.
In 2017/18, there have been 655 community events, 8,847 sporting event participants and 13,000 corporate fundraisers. We were left 251 legacies and we had support from 57 charitable trusts.
We are also thrilled to have the continued and amazing support from our army of volunteers who we couldn’t manage without. From shifts on the tea bar, volunteering in the office to helping out at our events, we remain hugely grateful for everyone who willingly donates their time to support us.
The Christie charity only exists because of all our fantastic support from all our amazing fundraisers. And whether it is giving your time, treasure and talent, we really do value everything you do. In return, we promise to ensure that all donations are spent as wisely and cost effectively as possible.
The Christie Charitable Fund raises money to help fund cancer research, medical equipment, new developments and all those extra services that make so much of a difference to patients, such as counseling, complementary therapies, our wig service and our cancer information centre.
Last year we raised over £12 million which helped fund a variety of projects and contributed to the development of our new radiotherapy centre’s in Oldham and Salford, to allow patients to access high-quality Christie care in their local area. Your support will ensure that we continue to support those in need.
