BBC Children in Need is the BBC’s UK corporate charity. Thanks to the support of the public, we’re able to make a real difference to the lives of children across the UK. Since 1980 we have raised over 950 million for young people. The BBC’s first ever broadcast appeal for children was a 5-minute radio broadcast on Christmas Day in 1927. The response was phenomenal, and it raised £1,143 which equates to about £27,000 in today’s standards. This was then split over 4 prominent children’s charities.
Our vision is that every child in the UK has a childhood which is:
- Happy and Secure
- Allows them the chance to reach their potential
We provide grants to projects in the UK which focus on children and young people who are disadvantaged. We are local to people in all corners of the UK and support small and large organisations which empower children and extend their life choices.
We are currently supporting 2,400 projects across the UK. The projects we fund help children facing a range of disadvantages for example poverty and deprivation; children who have been the victims of abuse or neglect or disabled young people.
Giveacar and its donors are proud supporters of Children in Need as they work hard to help children from deprived backgrounds. If you’re planning to scrap or sell your car, give a car instead to help those young people in need. Your donation can ensure children across the UK are kept safe, happy and secure. Do a good deed and help Children in Need when you donate your car to charity.
