Carers UK is a charity set up to help the 6.5 million people who care for family or friends in the UK.

At some point in our lives every one of us will be involved in looking after an older relative, a sick friend or a disabled family member. Whilst caring can be part and parcel of life, without the right support the personal costs can be high – caring can take its toll on finances, health, social life, relationships, and education and work commitments.

When caring affects you and your family, Carers UK is here for you.

Carers UK provide expert advice and information about caring through our website, free-phone advice line and guides on a range of subjects. We also provide practical and emotional support for carers through a network of local groups which break the isolation faced by many carers by putting them in touch with peer support and a listening ear, as well as an active online support forum.

Carers UK also campaigns to make life better for carers and influences policy makers, employers and service providers to help get a better deal for carers and their loved ones.

We have been absolutely delighted to take part in the Giveacar scheme. We have had several cars donated to us through this scheme and it provides us with an additional way to riase very much needed funds to continue improving the lives of animals in The Gambia. It’s such an easy scheme to use and is easy for us as the charity, as well as being easy for th person who needs to scrap their car too.

So far, we have received an amazing £37,947.11 through Giveacar donations. Today, 771 million people don’t have clean water close to home and 1.7 billion people don’t have access to a proper toilet.
