We offer a befriending service to families and other residents from East Dorset.
We run a CAP debt Centre, give support to victims of historic abuse through our 6 month programme, make lovely nutritious meals at our community café, enjoy family activities in school holidays, and have an open door for anyone in distress or with poor mental health.
The Bus Stop Club was formed 10 years ago, and became a charity in 2006 when we raised funds and bought our own Resource Centre, which is situated behind Hope Church in Corbin Avenue, Ferndown. Our main focus is to support parents and others in crisis. That could be because of debt, a relationship breakdown, mental health challenges, family stress, domestic abuse, or just the ongoing challenges of bringing up children on a low income.
We are the only befriending service in Dorset for the under 50’s – but we have many older service users as well. Over the last few years we have ran various projects according to the funding available and the needs of the local area. At resent we are focussing on debt support through our CAP Centre, support for those with childhood abuse and trauma, and mental health.
Our community café runs every Friday and is a safe meeting place for those who feel socially isolated. Our debt clients eat for free. We need funding to keep us going, our services are needed and we are busier than ever, so we are looking for donations to cover the costs of running costs and keep our door open to anyone who comes looking for help and a listening ear.
