Brake exists because every day on UK roads 5 people are killed and 60 more are seriously injured. These deaths and injuries cause horrendous heartbreak and trauma – they are sudden and violent, and commonly affect children and young people. Yet they are preventable.
Brake works to provide desperately-needed support for families in their darkest hours – those whose loved ones have died, or who have been affected by a life-changing injury. We offer emotional support through a helpline and by deploying immediate support workers, and we produce support packs with vital information handed out by police following every UK road death.
Brake also campaigns to end the carnage on our roads, and make our communities safer, greener places. We work with schools to help them teach children and young people about road safety. We work with companies to help them raise awareness about safe driving among their employees. And we help communities to campaign for safer roads, including through our flagship event, Road Safety Week.
Giveacar and its donors are proud supporters of Brake and the hard work they do supporting those who have been affected by road traffic accidents. If you’re planning to scrap or sell your car, give a car instead. Your donation can help support families who have lost loved ones on the road.
