Violence against women and girls takes many forms including domestic violence, sexual violence, stalking, trafficking to name a few. All communities are affected by violence against women and girls, the rates of women and children affected are vast and the consequences are far-reaching and long-lasting.
The UN states that “This fundamental violation of women’s rights remains widespread, affecting all countries. Women need strong laws, backed by implementation and services for protection and prevention.”
In the UK, violence against women costs £40.1bn every year.
