Ashgate Hospice

 Ashgate Hospice is an independent registered charity who provide specialist palliative care and support free of charge to people with life-limiting illnesses, and their families, living in Chesterfield and North Derbyshire. Their aim is to maintain the best quality of life for the patient throughout their illness, and support their family and carers for as long as they wish.
Care is delivered by specially trained staff in a number of ways, including
through the In-Patient Unit, Day Centre, Out-Patient Suite, Home Care Service
and Hospital Specialist Palliative Care Team.  Even though Ashgate Hospice
receives some statutory funding from the Government, a staggering £2.7
million needs to be raised annually through voluntary contributions and
fundraising.  
 
The Hospice, which is now in its 23rd year, has 8 charity
shops, a weekly lottery and runs a programme of events throughout the year.
