Animal Free Research UK funds and promotes research that will replace the use of animals. As well as saving animals, our work advances research that directly relates to human health so better treatments can be developed.
We award grants to scientists in universities, hospitals and research organisations following a rigorous peer-reviewed selection procedure. Only those projects with the highest scientific calibre and the best potential for the replacement of animals are awarded funding.
Founded in 1970 and funded solely by charitable donations, Animal Free Research UK has awarded grants to over 200 research projects in the most diverse areas of medical research including cancer, Alzheimer’s, asthma, kidney, heart and liver disease and diabetes, to name only a few. To date, we continue to be the UK’s leading charity provider of grants solely dedicated to animal free research.
