Every six minutes a baby is born in the UK needing specialist neonatal care and we support families who have premature and very poorly babies needing specialist neonatal care at the two units in Leicester. These babies are either born very early or have severe medical problems like chronic lung disease, need tracheotomies, have diaphragmatic hernias, have organs outside their bodies, downs syndrome, cerebral palsy and lots of other medical conditions. As well as supporting these babies, we also support their siblings helping them through the traumatic and emotional time of having a new baby needing special care.
Our support doesn’t just stop when babies go home we continue to support these parents for as long as we are needed. We are a small charity and need to raise at least £50,000 a year to survive so every penny really does count.
