For over 30 years Acorn has been helping churches to bring healing and wholeness to people and communities. Acorn provides people, regardless of their circumstances, background or life choices, with the opportunity to experience the “shalom” that is at the heart of the Christian message.
Early in the life of Acorn, we recognised the importance of listening in the process of healing and we also found that reconciliation was a significant area of healing where churches needed support. The result is our unique healing ministry which includes particular attention to the areas of reconciliation and listening.
Our work includes providing training, prayer ministry, direct support and other resources. We train volunteers in hospitals, GP surgeries, community projects, food banks, schools and churches.
We work across the UK and our resources are used in countries around the world from New Zealand to the USA, China to South Africa. We train Professional Volunteer Listeners, Christian Listeners and provide help for Healing Wounded Churches.
We follow in the footsteps of our founders Bishop Morris Maddocks and his wife Anne who had a vision from God for the healing ministry which led to Bishop Morris giving up his role as Bishop of Selby and with the support of the Archbishops of Canterbury and York establish a healing ministry which is Acorn Christian Foundation.
