1st Wigton Baden-Powell Scouts

You CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE

Charity Name: 1st Wigton Baden-Powell Scouts

1st Wigton Baden-Powell Scouts was founded early in 1998. The Group is led by Julie Bryceson, who has over 40 years Scouting experience.

Great emphasis is placed on traditional Scouting. We have two Beaver Colonies, two Cub Packs, two Scout Troops and a Senior Troop. Each Section meets in Oulton Village Hall, Wigton, although many meetings are outdoors, particularly from Easter onwards, on scout land and Brookfields Wood in Wigton.

The group has its own minibus which is used for camps, trips and other outdoor activities.

We have over 130 members, making it the largest group in the local area. Because of it’s success however, we now have a waiting list of members wishing to join. Having purchased land on the outskirts of Wigton we are now trying to raise money to build a log cabin.

Our aim is to have a place large enough to accommodate us all, at the moment Scouts really struggle to fit into the hall we rent and it is almost impossible to have two sections together at the same time.  In addition, we want a building which is as environmentally friendly as possible; so we will use Douglas Fir trees from just across the border in Scotland.

We hope with support from the local community and beyond that we can bring 1st Wigton Scout Group back to Wigton, so Beavers, Cubs and Scouts can be in the town of their name, with space to play and learn.  We have the land, we have the plans, we just need the funds.

Giveacar and its donors are proud supporters of 1st Wigton Baden-Powell Scouts and the leaders who offer their time to educate and entertain the group members. Your car can ensure they get the log cabin necessary for them to continue their Scout Group. If you’re looking to scrap or sell your car, give a car instead and donate it to the 1st Wigton Baden-Powell Scouts Group.
