Celebrating a Major Milestone

Giveacar has raised £4 million for charity

Today, we are celebrating having raised £4 million from the donation of vehicles to UK charities. This milestone is a major accomplishment for Giveacar on our mission to provide an alternative fundraising stream to charities.

“We are delighted to have raised such an incredible amount for the causes registered with us. Our small team works very hard to ensure we get the most out of every vehicle and there is no better reward than reaching this significant milestone. None of this would be possible without the generous support of all the donors over the 11 years Giveacar has operated.” says Sarah Furneaux, General Manager at Giveacar.

Despite a difficult year with all the uncertainty in 2020, Giveacar managed to push on and our team continued to provide a steady source of income for charities, raising over £400,000! The momentum has continued into 2021 and we are on target to at least match the amount raised in 2020. And, we’ve had some significant moments in the last year:

  • Winner, Social Value Initiative – National Recycling Awards 2020
  • Revising our administration fees, amending our lower fee to include higher value cars – lower fee applies on vehicles up to £249 (previously £149)
  • Refreshing our feature charity initiative to increase the impact for charities

We’d like to extend a huge thank you to all the donor’s over the last 11 years. Your support has exceeded our expectations and without you we wouldn’t be able to have raised this incredible amount. Also, we want to recognise the support we’ve had from all the charities registered with us to receive vehicle donations with their help in spreading the awareness of Giveacar. We can’t wait until we can shout about having raised £5 million for all the amazing causes and look forward to pursuing that goal.

About Giveacar: The UK’s first car donation scheme, Giveacar is a multi-award-winning not-for-profit social enterprise that turns vehicles into cash donations for any UK charity. Over 11 years Giveacar has supported over 1600 charities with the money raised from old cars. With free collection, they will either auction or sell the vehicle for scrap, depending on its condition, and the proceeds (minus service fees) raised go to a charity of the donor’s choice.
