Nectar Business Small Business Award
Winner, Contribution to the Community
‘The contribution to the community award recognises businesses that create substantial benefits for the local community. Giveacar defeated a number of excellent social businesses due to an overwhelming public vote. The award was presented by Karren Brady from BBC One’s The Apprentice.’
City of London Sustainable City Awards
Highly Commended, Responsible Waste Management
‘The Waste Management category recognises and rewards best practice with respect to responsible waste management. Applicants should demonstrate innovative waste management practices particularly with respect to implementing the waste hierarchy of minimising waste, reusing and recycling materials.’

2011
BBC World Challenge Competition
A global competition looking for innovative social projects. We were the only UK finalist and the BBC filmed a 10 minute documentary on Giveacar – short clip below. We made it down to the last 12 finalists but missed out on a podium finish. We are thrilled to be considered one of the 12 most innovative social enterprises in the world though!

Observer Ethical Award
Finalist, Big Idea Category
This award has thousands of entries so we were delighted to make the final three. We were gutted to miss out on winning but enjoyed a fantastic evening at the awards which were attended by the likes of Colin Firth, Lily Cole, Rick Hall, and Ben Okri. We also were given a nice runner’s-up prize of £500.
Venture Candy (Metro Newspaper)
Giveacar made the final three in the environmental category of this competition, which would have seen us receive free advertising from the Metro.
2010
Future 100 award
Winner, Top 10 Young Social Entrepreneur in UK – Tom Chance
Our Founder Tom was delighted to be named one of the top 10 Young Social Entrepreneurs in the UK.
Young Achievers Trust
Winner, Environmental Category, 20-25 – Tom Chance
Our Founder Tom won a nice trophy from the Young Achievers Trust.
London Business Awards
Shortlist, Business Innovation Category – Giveacar
Giveacar got down to the final five for the London Business Awards in the Business Innovation Category. Despite missing out on the award, the prize ceremony at London Planit Embankment was great fun.
