Read what some of our charities say about Giveacar

PDSA receives no government funding, so donations from initiatives such as Giveacar provide invaluable support to our cause of saving sick and injured pets. A huge thank you to everyone who has donated their car to PDSA through this scheme, it means so much to the people and animals we help.

Whale and Dolphin Conservation (WDC) are really excited to be working with the team at Give a Car. We’d like to send a huge ‘thank you’ to all of our supporters who have been so generous to date in helping put their old cars to good use, helping us work towards our mission of a world where every whale and dolphin is safe and free. Every donation helps us further our campaigns on ending captivity, bycatch and hunting and securing rights and safe homes for whales and dolphins - your donations really can, and do, make a huge difference.

Chibozu Community Trust would like to gratefully and sincerely thank Giveacar and supporters that donated their cars towards the donation we received. So many people’s lives in Simooya Village have been improved as a result of the donation received. The Giveacar donation of £937.30 provided clean and safe drinking water to homes in Simooya Village, Simooya Community School and the local Chibozu clinic. The Giveacar team was very helpful and supportive throughout the whole process of raising the required funds for the first phase of the village water project.

We are excited to be part of this scheme. Your generosity will help us support local people with a learning disability. For example, £400 could enable a local child to attend our specialist after-school club for a whole school term and help them fulfil their potential whilst providing support and respite for their parents.

So far we have received an amazing £15,768.78 through Giveacar donations. Today, 650 million people still live without access to safe water and 2.3 billion people don’t have access to a proper toilet. Just £15 can help provide one person with safe water. Help us reach everyone everywhere with safe water, toilets and hygiene by 2030. Thank you!

Nowzad is extremely pleased to be supported by the ‘GiveaCar’ scheme as our work in Afghanistan is entirely funded by the generosity of the great British animal loving public. Currently we are working towards reducing rabies in Kabul through a trap, neuter, vaccinate and return scheme amongst the out of control stray dog population whilst operating the only small animal shelter in Afghanistan. We also assist serving soldiers on the front lines in Afghanistan rescue their new found four legged buddies that have helped them deal with the stresses the soldiers can face during a tour of duty. Nowzad has started small but with schemes like this we will make a difference for the animals of Afghanistan with no voice but ours.

Giveacar is the brain child of a socially aware and very green group who saw the opportunity to help people with the eternal problem of what to do with an old, possibly much loved car that has become too expensive to fix while at the same time helping good causes. The MS Research Treatment & Education has already received over £4,500 through Giveacar donations ranging from £10 to £255. We are most grateful to the all of the car donors who wanted to dispose of their old vehicles responsibly while helping MS Research to carry out vital research to help people, young and old affected by a life changing, progressive disabling condition. There are over 100,000 people in the UK diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis (MS) which can lead to increasing dependency, often with pain, fatigue, loss of personal dignity and restrictions to daily life. MS Research is a charity dedicated to furthering our understanding of MS and developing better treatments through research and education, finding real answers to the many and varied difficulties those who have MS and those close to them face daily. If you have an old car that has come to the end of its useful life Giveacar will collect and appropriately and responsibly recycle all car donations free of charge to you while providing valuable income to MS Research.

We are delighted to be one of the beneficiaries of Giveacar which we see as a unique way of raising the important funds we need. Stroke affects over 150,000 people in the UK every year. The funding from Giveacar helps us to save lives and prevent stroke. Every car donated really does make a difference. Since joining the scheme we have been amazed at how this has become a regular income source. We are very grateful to all those who have supported us through this innovative scheme, we hope it will continue so we can help more stroke survivors to make the best possible recovery they can.

ABF The Soldiers’ Charity are very proud to be working with Giveacar’s professional and hard-working team. We received our first donation of £40 in 2010 and since then, over £8,778 has been generated, which is fantastic! Last year we were honoured to be one of the charities’ chosen to feature on the Giveacar website. This opportunity gave us valuable publicity and a platform to reach new supporters, raising even more funds through this great scheme. The Giveacar team have been proactive and engaging with us and the work we do. They have offered terrific support in encouraging our existing supporters to scrap their cars in support of The Soldiers’ Charity whilst attracting new donors. A big thank you to Giveacar and to the donors who have generously scrapped their cars for us, which will ensure we can continue to support our soldiers, veterans and their immediate families in the greatest need, regardless of age, rank or where they served.

Although London City Mission has been around since 1835, we are always looking for new and innovative ways to raise funds to carry on our ministry. We are delighted to be working with Giveacar, and so far we have raised over £1,400 through them for our work by simply promoting it through our social media channels and quarterly magazine; thanks to a number of generous supporters who have donated their scrap cars. An old heap rusting away on the drive may simply be an inconvenience to a supporter, but by disposing of it quickly and easily though Giveacar, they may raise £100 for our work. This would provide refreshments for a month at a drop-in or homework club at one of our Christian Centres dotted around London, or literally be “bangers for cash” and help providing towards a hot breakfast for the 100 or so homeless guests that visit our centre near Waterloo every morning, or any of a number of other ways that we continue to share Jesus Christ with all London.
