Abbie Yaxley
Business Development Assistant“ Giveacar is the brain child of a socially aware and very green group who saw the opportunity to help people with the eternal problem of what to do with an old, possibly much loved car that has become too expensive to fix while at the same time helping good causes. The charity Multiple Sclerosis Research has already received just under £2,200 through Giveacar donations ranging from £38 to £255. We are most grateful to the 23 car donors who wanted to dispose of their old cars responsibly while helping MS Research to carry out vital research to help young people affected by a life changing, progressive disabling condition. There are approximately 100,000 people in the UK diagnosed with MS. It can mean increasing dependency, often with pain, fatigue, loss of personal dignity and restriction to 'disabled accessible' environments. The focus of MS Research is on finding real answers to the many and varied difficulties those who have MS and those close to them face daily. If you have an old car that has come to the end of its useful life Giveacar will collect and appropriately and responsibly recycle all car donations free of charge to you while providing valuable income to the charity. ”

“ Although London City Mission has been around since 1835, we are always looking for new and innovative ways to raise funds to carry on our ministry. We are delighted to be working with Giveacar, and so far we have raised over £1,400 through them for our work by simply promoting it through our social media channels and quarterly magazine; thanks to a number of generous supporters who have donated their scrap cars. An old heap rusting away on the drive may simply be an inconvenience to a supporter, but by disposing of it quickly and easily though Giveacar, they may raise £100 for our work. This would provide refreshments for a month at a drop-in or homework club at one of our Christian Centres dotted around London, or literally be “bangers for cash” and help providing towards a hot breakfast for the 100 or so homeless guests that visit our centre near Waterloo every morning, or any of a number of other ways that we continue to share Jesus Christ with all London. ”

They picked it up the following Wednesday. Done. It didn't cost her a penny and she raised £140.00 for Sambat Trust. From a charity's perspective,we love working with Givecar. The staff are very friendly and efficient. Every time a car is donated to Sambat Trust, we receive a letter with a breakdown of the donation and how we can send a thank you letter to our kind donor. Excellent service and support which is free of charge. So to any charity out there, sign up now because this is an innovative, environmentally friendly and efficient way for you fundraise, and to any generous soul looking to get rid of their old car, please donate it to the Sambat Trust- your old banger can still do some good. And remember, it's FREE! ”
