[value] => WLCHC is a volunteer-led charity dedicated to alleviating poverty among street homeless people in west London, by providing accommodation, advice and support. Our main aim is to address the immediate needs of homeless men and women by protecting and feeding them during the coldest months of the year. But we also provide our guests with the stability, direction and support they need to move away from the streets.
We operate the largest winter night shelter project in London and the only project offering emergency winter accommodation in the boroughs of Kensington & Chelsea and Hammersmith & Fulham. Local churches of different denominations in west London provide venues for our rotating winter night shelter.
We provide 35 bed spaces every night from November until April and more than 300 volunteers cook, serve, and sit with our homeless guests who come to us for accommodation, food, and friendly company. We employ a caseworker to offer advice, advocacy and practical support to help guest’s access accommodation; employment; detox projects; mental health services, set up benefit claims and obtain identification. WLCHC also operates a year round laundry, shower and clothing service from our base at Chelsea Methodist Church.
