[value] => The Vine in Aldershot helps homeless and vulnerable men and women over 25 to get back on their feet. We provide a place to go, a cheap hot lunch and a range of services from counselling and IT skills to literacy and numeracy tuition. Volunteers undertake a huge variety of tasks for us, from collecting food, running the computers, hosting groups, being a friendly face on the front-desk, or simply being someone willing to sit and listen over a cuppa.
The people who use The Vine often have multiple problems include drug and alcohol addictions, periods in prison, mental health issues and long term unemployment. By helping people to rebuild their lives The Vine helps to reduce drug and alcohol related crime and the number of ex-offenders returning to prison.
It costs £90,000 a year to run The Vine. Some of the money pays for our small team of staff including a full time Centre Manager and a part time Kitchen Manager. The main running costs are the rent for our premises, gas, electricity, telephone and water bills, postage, stationery, insurance and keeping the computers running for both the clients and the staff.
