Quaker Social Action has supported individuals, families and neighbourhoods in the deprived communities of London’s east end since 1867. Although our projects have evolved over time, our remit remains the same: to work with people on a low income to improve their lives. We achieve this through five core services and some time-limited projects, addressing specific, yet interrelated, needs of local people.

  •   Made of Money provides financial literacy training to families on low incomes, supporting parents to improve their money management and pass positive values on to their children.
  •   Homelink enables non-priority homeless people to access private tenancies. Our follow-up support enables every tenant to achieve other goals around health, employment and relationships.
  •   Homestore provides quality used furniture and money advice to local people in need. We collect and deliver for free across seven east London boroughs, serving 1,700 households every year.
  •   Down to Earth gives practical support to people on low incomes who suffer bereavement. Our team of funeral mentors work with people to plan affordable, yet meaningful funerals.
  •   Knees Up is a community-led project that gets people working together to improve cohesion and make their areas safer, more sociable places to live.
