You CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE

Charity Name: Open Doors UK

Open Doors UK is an international ministry serving persecuted Christians and churches worldwide. Open Doors supplies Bibles, leadership training, Scripture-based literacy programmes, livelihood support and advocacy services. Open Doors UK also seek to mobilise the church in the UK to serve Christians living under religious persecution.
How They Help
Open Doors exists to strengthen the church to be the church in the most hostile places. In over 50 countries, Open Doors is supplying Bibles, training church leaders, delivering Scripture-based literacy programmes and supporting Christians who suffer for their faith. In the UK and Ireland Open Doors strives to raise awareness of global persecution, mobilising prayer, support and action among Christians.
Providing Bibles and Christian literature
Persecuted believers are hungry for Bibles and Christian literature. Open Doors works to meet this need through writing, translating, printing and distributing a wide range of items in various languages, including Children’s Bibles, MP3 Bibles and discipleship literature.
Training for leadership and discipleship
Few leaders in the persecuted church have had any theological education. Open Doors offers training in effective church leadership and discipling others, all in the context of helping believers grow in their faith and understanding, and stand strong through the storm of persecution.
Sustaining lives, supporting livelihoods
Persecution means that families lose their breadwinner to imprisonment or death; violence forces them to flee or lose their livelihoods; discrimination makes employment difficult. Open Doors brings practical support to families, to widows, to orphans, to the victims of violence or natural disaster.
Speaking out in advocacy
Open Doors comes alongside to help persecuted believers, as individuals and as a group, by providing various kinds of legal support, and seeking positive policy change through private diplomacy and public campaigning, prompting Christians in the UK and Ireland to write, petition and email people of power: MPs, Ministers, Ambassadors and foreign governments.
Raising awareness and encouraging prayer
Publications and resources – printed and electronic – are produced for Christians in the UK and Ireland, alerting them to the needs of the persecuted church and providing specific information to encourage prayerful involvement.
Engaging and mobilising the church
In the UK and Ireland a programme of personal engagement and communication through regional and head office staff, and supported and resourced volunteers in churches and at Christian events, is designed to initiate and deepen active concern for the persecuted church.
Preparing the next generation of supporters
Specific attention is given to informing and engaging children and young people in prayerful involvement with the persecuted church through innovative events and resources.
