BASIK, (Build A School In Kenya), was established in 2006 by the Normington family after visiting Kenya. We saw the poverty in a rural area near Mombasa where a wonderful man, Julius Nzai, was teaching in a hut. Now there are six classrooms, a water supply, 4 teachers and nearly 200 children, several of whom are orphans. Work is now starting on a garden to provide food and to be an educational resource. We returned in 2007, but since then we recieve regular updates by e-mail, (the head cycles 20 miles in to Mombasa to use the internet), and via the photographs.
