Diabetes UK is the leading charity for over 3.5 million people in the UK with diabetes, funding research, campaigning and helping people living with the condition. Our mission is to improve the lives of people with diabetes and work towards a future without diabetes. With over 150,000 Supporting Members, Diabetes UK is one of the largest patient organisations in Europe.

One person is diagnosed with diabetes every three minutes in the UK making diabetes one of the biggest health challenges facing the UK today. Almost one in 20 of the UK population has been diagnosed with diabetes and it is estimated that 850,000 people in the UK have diabetes but do not know it.

In 2011, Diabetes UK aims to spend over £6 million on diabetes research to investigate the causes and prevention of diabetes, to improve care and treatment of diabetes and ultimately to work towards a cure.
