Basic Human Rights
Basic Human Rights is an international non-governmental organisation (INGO) registered with the Charity Commission for England & Wales under the registration no. 1133308. The organisation's Head Quarters is in Bradford UK.
BHR is currently focusing on Kenya, Haiti, Libya, Pakistan and Uganda.
Basic Human Rights works to protect the rights of most vulnerable groups in conflict, post-conflict and transition societies. Our main focus is on children and women affected by violence, poverty, natural disaster, and socio-economic constraints. We emphasise on participatory approach and believe in empowering civil society to vie for social transformation through active participation.
BHR’s approach during an emergency response is to provide:
Access to basic human rights for women and children the most vulnerable victims during an emergency whether its a war conflict or natural disaster.
BHR’s approach is to respond to any major disaster around the world with a holistic and integrated approach of providing protection to the most vulnerable; women and children. BHR acts as a conduit for the communities affected by war, conflict or natural disaster to the rest of the global community.
BHR assesses the situation according to the immediate needs of the community.
The service delivered is bespoke as it is a grass roots approach, the communities have a voice through BHR to the international community, making them aware of their greatest needs. BHR works with people from all walks of life, regardless of their race, religion, cast and creed.
Protection is the main focus for the organisation in any kind of emergency response which will be covered through:

•Shelter
•Psycho social support
•Creating a global network of support
This is done through developing a mechanism for women to have a focal point regarding the issues pertaining to protection.
A strong Monitoring & Evaluation system in place to ensure the set objectives and indicators are achieved.
