Giveacar awards

The Giveacar team and the service we provide have received several national awards for our contribution to society and the environment. Here are a few:

2013

Nectar Business Small Business Award

Winner, Contribution to the Community

'The contribution to the community award recognises businesses that create substantial benefits for the local community. Giveacar defeated a number of excellent social businesses due to an overwhelming public vote. The award was presented by Karren Brady from BBC One’s The Apprentice.'

City of London Sustainable City Awards

Highly Commended, Responsible Waste Management

'The Waste Management category recognises and rewards best practice with respect to responsible waste management. Applicants should demonstrate innovative waste management practices particularly with respect to implementing the waste hierarchy of minimising waste, reusing and recycling materials.'

2012

Third Sector Excellence Awards

Winner, Innovation in Fundraising

'Awarded to the fundraising initiative, excluding events and direct marketing, that has done the most to gain new donors, retain the support of existing donors or regain the support of lapsed donors'

Finance for the Future award

Winner, Innovative Newcomer category

'For organisations that have been trading for less than three years that can demonstrate an innovative business model or new way of doing business'...

2011

BBC World Challenge Competition

A global competition looking for innovative social projects. We were the only UK finalist and the BBC filmed a 10 minute documentary on Giveacar - short clip below. We made it down to the last 12 finalists but missed out on a podium finish. We are thrilled to be considered one of the 12 most innovative social enterprises in the world though!

Observer Ethical Award

Finalist, Big Idea Category

This award has thousands of entries so we were delighted to make the final three. We were gutted to miss out on winning but enjoyed a fantastic evening at the awards which were attended by the likes of Colin Firth, Lily Cole, Rick Hall, and Ben Okri. We also were given a nice runner’s-up prize of £500.

Venture Candy (Metro Newspaper)

Giveacar made the final three in the environmental category of this competition, which would have seen us receive free advertising from the Metro.

2010

Future 100 award

Winner, Top 10 Young Social Entrepreneur in UK – Tom Chance

Our Founder Tom was delighted to be named one of the top 10 Young Social Entrepreneurs in the UK.

Young Achievers Trust

Winner, Environmental Category, 20-25 – Tom Chance

Our Founder Tom won a nice trophy from the Young Achievers Trust.

London Business Awards

Shortlist, Business Innovation Category – Giveacar

Giveacar got down to the final five for the London Business Awards in the Business Innovation Category. Despite missing out on the award, the prize ceremony at London Planit Embankment was great fun.
